I have now been at the YWAM base in the beautiful city of Lausanne, Switzerland, for ten days, as a Bible Core Course student. Already, I have learned so much and made so many connections with people. While it's a lot of work (can be 10+ hour days), it's seriously worth it, and I'm really enjoying myself.
The city is absolutely beautiful! The cobblestone streets and the old buildings with shutters on the windows take a person back in time, and the artwork everywhere is lovely. There is a gorgeous Cathedral in the city center and beautiful fountains spread throughout it (which you can drink out of, by the way.) The Cathedral is my favorite. It is absolutely stunning and has a history that I find very interesting, spiritually.
Today, a group of us traveled to an adorable Mountain Town called Gruyeres. The train ride alone was beautiful, with incredible mountain views the entire way. Upon arrival, we went and saw a cheese factory, where there were rows and rows of giant cheese blocks. It was more cheese than I had ever seen in one
place before...like something from a gluttonous dream...
The town itself is so lovely! Everything that one would expect from an old Swiss town in the mountains, complete with a castle, a fairy-like meadow of wildflowers, and phenomenal chocolate.
So far, we have read and studied eight books of the Bible: two of them studied inductively. The Inductive Study Method dives so deeply into the word, with so much historical and contextual background that honestly changes the reading of the entire book in such a dramatic way, making it so much more relevant, interesting, and powerful. I had no idea how much content one could pull from a single page of the Bible.
Everyone in my school is awesome! The dynamic is so great, with everyone always helping and encouraging one another, while always making sure to have a good laugh now and then.
Thanks for reading!
